AMET denounces irregularities in the Secondary Level Classification Board
The Association of Technical Teaching Magistracy (AMET) has denounced structural irregularities and a lack of transparency within the Secondary Level Classification Board. These allegations follow a report from the State Prosecutor's Office (Fiscalía de Estado) that validated concerns regarding the board's functioning.
AMET Secretary General Juan Carrizo stated that the board has acted “unilaterally and illegitimately” by modifying professional scores and classifications. These actions have reportedly hindered teachers in Ushuaia, Río Grande, and Tolhuin from accessing teaching hours and hierarchical positions. Carrizo noted that administrative delays often cause teachers to lose career opportunities, even if they eventually receive a favorable resolution.
Furthermore, the union criticized the lack of institutional normalization, pointing out that the last election for teacher representatives took place in 2010. Carrizo argued that authorities have been replaced without a vote from the base under the pretext of tenure processes, which the union claims is no longer a valid justification for postponing elections.
