Ametic hosts 40th Digital Economy and Telecommunications Meeting in Santander

The 40th edition of the Digital Economy and Telecommunications Meeting, organized by Ametic, is being held in Santander under the theme ‘Digitalization, Competitiveness and Social Impact. The Great Equation.’ The event brings together over 170 speakers, including business leaders, academics, and government officials, to discuss challenges such as artificial intelligence, technological sovereignty, data centers, and knowledge transfer.

During the opening session, the Minister for Digital Transformation and Civil Service, Óscar López, announced an investment of 180 million euros to support more than 372 artificial intelligence projects. Approximately 70 percent of these initiatives will be driven by SMEs, with individual grants ranging from 400,000 to 5 million euros. Additionally, 50 million euros in public investment will be allocated to 72 projects focused on applying AI within the healthcare sector.

The meeting aims to shift the focus of digital transformation from mere technology adoption to generating tangible productivity, industrial growth, employment, and economic value for Spain and Europe.
