Amey awarded integration contract for Northern Powerhouse Rail

Amey has been awarded a contract by Network Rail to provide systemwide integration for the first phase of the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) programme. This role involves coordinating six major projects to ensure they function as a single, cohesive rail network across the north of England.

Working through the Design and Development Partnership Framework (DDPF), Amey will provide technical and engineering leadership. The company will collaborate with Network Rail and subcontractors to produce a Network Option Selection Report. This report will evaluate various development options based on journey times, network performance, maintenance, construction feasibility, sustainability, estimated costs, and land consent issues.

The integration efforts will focus on key corridors, including Bradford–Leeds, Leeds–York, and Leeds–Sheffield, as well as developments at Leeds station. The goal of the NPR programme is to enhance regional connectivity and improve the efficiency of rail transport for passengers and local communities.
