AMF-UMOA and World Bank partner on regional markets; WHO and Global Fund boost health cooperation
The AMF-UMOA and the World Bank Group are strengthening cooperation to deepen the West African regional financial market. During a meeting in Abidjan, officials reviewed the Joint Capital Market Program (J-CAP), which aims to increase resource mobilization for both public and private sectors through structural reforms.
Since the 2018 memorandum of understanding, the partnership has contributed to evolving stock market infraction frameworks, reforming collective management regulations, and developing sustainable finance. Current efforts focus on modernizing supervision, improving market liquidity, diversifying financial products, and establishing a savers' protection fund.
In the health sector, the World Health Organization (WHO) and The Global Fund are reinforcing their partnership in Cameroon to combat HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria. Discussions between WHO Representative Dr. Magaran Monzon Bagayoko and Global Fund Portfolio Manager Osian Jones focused on the implementation of current grants and the preparation for future funding cycles.
The WHO is advocating for increased support for health system strengthening to ensure the sustainable consolidation of Cameroon’s healthcare infrastructure.
