Amfilochia Municipality disputes former mayor over infrastructure project credit

The Municipality of Amfilochia has issued a statement criticizing former Mayor Georgios Katsoulas for allegedly attempting to claim credit for a coastal development and sidewalk construction project. The current administration asserts that the project, which is being completed by the Region of Western Greece, was originally envisioned, designed, and studied by the municipal authority during the 2011-2019 term.

The municipality claims that Katsoulas merely inherited a ready-to-fund project and failed to accelerate its progress during his tenure. In response, Katsoulas stated that the previous study was rejected by the Region and that a different design, developed during his time in office, is what is currently being implemented.

The project was updated in February 2024 and included in the Western Greece 2021-2025 Operational Program in March 2024.
