Amgen and AstraZeneca report positive Phase 3 results for TEZSPIRE in EoE

Amgen and AstraZeneca have announced positive top-line results from the Phase 3 CROSSING trial of TEZSPIRE (tezepelumab-ekko) for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). The drug demonstrated statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in both co-primary and key secondary endpoints at week 24, with results sustained through week 52.

The co-primary endpoints included histologic remission and the frequency and severity of dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing. The safety profile of the treatment was reported to be generally consistent with its existing approved indications.

EoE is a chronic, progressive inflammatory disorder of the esophagus. In the United States, the condition affects more than 470,000 people, with prevalence having increased five-fold since 2009. Current first-line treatments, such as dietary restrictions and proton pump inhibitors, fail to provide adequate disease control for nearly half of patients.
