Amici 26: Erness eliminated following plagiarism controversy
The third episode of the talent show Amici 26 featured significant developments, most notably the elimination of singer Erness (Ernesto). Following reports that his original compositions were plagiarized, his artistic director, Samurai Jay, and the production team made the decision to remove him from the competition.
Erness addressed the situation on social media, expressing remorse and stating, “I must apologize, above all, to myself... doing what I did leads nowhere, except to failure.” He characterized the experience as a difficult lesson and expressed gratitude to the production and his fellow students.
The episode also introduced new disciplinary measures for students who finish at the bottom of the rankings. These sanctions include mandatory cleaning duties, a seven-day ban on smartphone use, point deductions in subsequent competitions, and the requirement to perform tasks assigned by a different artistic director.
Other highlights from the broadcast included musical performances by Ariete and guest judges Il Volo and Kledi Kadiu. The show continues to integrate new disciplines, such as sports, featuring competitions in boxing, judo, and roller skating.
