Amici talent show to undergo major format overhaul under Maria De Filippi

Italian talent programme Amici, hosted by Maria De Filippi, will be revamped for its upcoming autumn season. The long‑standing panel of professors is set to be replaced by a technical commission, a move aimed at reducing on‑air tension and returning to the show's original judging format. Veteran teacher Anna Pettinelli will leave the programme, with reports suggesting former contestant Giordana Angi could join the coaching staff.

The daytime segment featuring contestants' daily lives will be cut, replaced by short informational pieces, and casting will focus on more experienced performers rather than raw newcomers. Additionally, the format may expand beyond music and dance to incorporate a sports discipline, potentially overseen by former fighter Alessio Sakara. These changes come after a recent dip of about three audience‑share points, amounting to roughly 600,000 fewer viewers, prompting the revamp to regain the show's former ratings.

The restructuring aims to modernise Amici while preserving its core identity, seeking a broader audience appeal without a complete overhaul of the existing on‑stage personalities.
