Amiens venue cancels Barbara Butch concert following boycott call

The associative concert venue La Lune des Pirates in Amiens has canceled an electronic music event scheduled for September 19, which was set to feature DJ Barbara Butch. Organizers stated that the necessary conditions for security and public reception could no longer be met.

The cancellation follows a boycott call from the association France-Palestine Solidarité. The association expressed its satisfaction on social media, claiming victory in preventing the event. Conversely, supporters of the DJ argue that these boycott efforts are a pretext for antisemitic attacks against her due to her Jewish identity.

Amiens Mayor Frédéric Fauvet defended the decision as a difficult one based on the reality of the venue's configuration and safety concerns. However, the move has drawn sharp criticism from political figures. Aurore Bergé, the minister delegate for the fight against discrimination, described the cancellation as an “act of cowardice,” while other officials condemned the pressure placed on artists based on their religion or opinions.
