Amin Chiakha returns to Algeria national team
Algerian striker Amin Chiakha has returned to the national team following strong performances with his club, Rosenborg BK, in Norway. The 20-year-old, currently on loan from FC Copenhagen, has recorded 14 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances, earning him a spot in the squad for the upcoming CAN 2027 qualifiers against Zambia.
Chiakha’s return coincides with a period of transition for the Algerian national team, as veteran players Riyad Mahrez and Aïssa Mandi have retired from international duty. Chiakha expressed respect for the departing players, noting their significant history with the country, and stated that the squad is now entering a new era where younger players must write their own history.
Ahead of the match scheduled at the Hocine Aït-Ahmed Stadium in Tizi-Ouzou, Chiakha emphasized his determination to prove his value, showcase his pressing abilities, and secure a permanent place within the team.
