Aminata Fullah makes history as Sierra Leone’s first female men’s U-20 referee

Aminata Fullah has become the first female referee from Sierra Leone to serve as a centre referee in a men’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match. She will officiate the WAFU Zone A U-20 Tournament fixture between Liberia and The Gambia in Mali.

Fullah previously served as the first Sierra Leonean referee at the Africa Cup of Nations Women’s Tournament. Her appointment, alongside fellow Sierra Leonean assistant referee Mamoud Ali Conteh, is viewed as a milestone for gender inclusion in football officiating by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the West African Football Union (WAFU).
