Amine Gouiri reaches 70 Ligue 1 goals for Olympique de Marseille

Algerian international Amine Gouiri has surpassed 70 career goals in France's Ligue 1. Following his fifth goal of the current season, the Olympique de Marseille striker now sits at the top of the league's scoring charts.

Gouiri's career total includes 23 goals for Marseille, 25 for Stade Rennais, and 22 for OGC Nice. This milestone places him eighth on the historical list of top Algerian scorers in Ligue 1, trailing legends such as Rachid Mekhloufi, Mustapha Dahleb, and Mahi Khennane.

Despite his scoring efficiency, Gouiri's playing style remains a subject of debate. While his goal-scoring ratio is comparable to elite center-forwards, critics often point to his tendency to drop deep into midfield to participate in build-up play rather than remaining a traditional presence in the penalty area. This tactical fluidity makes him a versatile asset for Marseille but presents a stylistic departure from the classic number nine role.
