Amine Hachem Chafiq, Istiqlal Party official, dies in Morocco

Amine Hachem Chafiq, a prominent member of the Istiqlal Party, parliamentarian for the Mediouna region, and president of the El Magatia commune, has passed away following a period of illness.

Reports indicate that Chafiq’s health issues began last month when he was hospitalized in Casablanca due to severe back pain. During medical procedures, complications arose involving a blood vessel injury that led to acute internal bleeding. His condition subsequently deteriorated, leading to his transfer to a military hospital in Rabat, where he passed away.

While some family circles have raised unconfirmed speculation regarding potential poisoning, Chafiq’s father stated that the family has not requested an autopsy. He noted that doctors had previously investigated potential liver issues following the initial complications. Chafiq was a significant political figure within the Casablanca-Settat region.
