Aminu Danmaliki Defects from APC to PRP in Bauchi State
Former House of Representatives member for Bauchi Federal Constituency, Aminu Mohammed Danmaliki, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his new affiliation with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). The defection was made public at a press briefing and a PRP gathering in Majidadi B Ward, Bauchi, where Danmaliki said the move was driven by personal conviction and a desire for people‑oriented governance.
He highlighted Nigeria’s rising economic hardship, unemployment, and challenges in health‑care and education, describing the PRP as a platform focused on social justice, accountability, quality education, affordable health‑care and rural development. Danmaliki also pledged support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, the PRP’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State election, and said he would use his political experience to aid the party’s campaign.
The APC’s local chairman expressed satisfaction with the peaceful nature of the switch, while PRP leaders welcomed the defection as a boost to their preparations for the upcoming elections.
