Aminu Waziri Tambuwal sues Sokoto government over withheld probe report

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto State and current Senator for Sokoto South, has filed a lawsuit against the Sokoto State Government to compel the release of a judicial probe report.

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry was established by the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu to investigate the financial transactions and activities of Tambuwal’s administration, which lasted from 2015 to 2023. The commission, chaired by former Gombe State Chief Judge Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, has reportedly concluded its sittings and submitted its findings to the state government.

Tambuwal, represented by counsel U. O. Sule, SAN, argues that he is entitled to the report under the principles of law and natural justice. He contends that access to the document is essential for him to understand any findings or recommendations and to exercise his constitutional right to a fair hearing should he need to respond to adverse conclusions.
