Amir Ohana rejects genocide accusations in Rome speech

Knesset President Amir Ohana addressed European parliamentary leaders in Rome, strongly rejecting accusations of genocide against Israel. During his speech, Ohana accused various world leaders of spreading falsehoods for political gain and electoral considerations.

Ohana characterized the current international climate as a “grave crisis of courage,” stating that while many leaders claim to uphold noble values, few defend them when necessary. He urged those in the “free world” to stand with Israel, calling the genocide allegations an “odious lie.”

Reflecting on the October 7 attacks, Ohana condemned attempts to distort or erase the memory of the events. He highlighted the atrocities committed by Hamas, including killings, rapes, and mutilations, noting that the day was the deadliest for Jewish people since the Holocaust.
