Amir Slama revisits fashion archives at São Paulo Fashion Week
Designer Amir Slama presented a new collection at São Paulo Fashion Week that revisits his own fashion archive. The collection draws inspiration from his debut at New York Fashion Week in 2000 with his brand, Rosa Chá.
Slama reimagined iconic elements from his past work, including a swimsuit that creates an illusion of nudity. The new designs incorporate references to Carmen Miranda and the deity Iemanjá, utilizing themes of water, seas, and rivers. The collection features asymmetrical cutouts, deep necklines, and voluminous ruffles, utilizing materials such as silk, neoprene, and transparencies.
The color palette includes tropical tones like orange, red, yellow, blue, and jade green, alongside metallic gold sequins and patterns such as florals, stripes, and polka dots. The presentation included both beachwear and urban pieces, such as embroidered mini-dresses and bomber jackets.
