Amish Shah faces scrutiny over Bernie Sanders campaign claims

During a recent debate for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, Democratic candidate Amish Shah denied having campaigned for Senator Bernie Sanders. However, resurfaced video footage appears to contradict this claim.

The footage shows Shah speaking at an ‘Arizona for Bernie 2020’ event hosted by the Phoenix chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. In the video, Shah praised Sanders’ authenticity and stated that his candidacy helped improve the Democratic Party platform. He also expressed support for single-payer healthcare during the event, noting that the current free-market system has flaws.

While Shah characterized claims regarding his support for single-payer healthcare as ‘misinformation’ during the debate, the archived event materials and previous remarks show him advocating for the policy and participating in the Sanders campaign.
