Amit Shah inaugurates national anti-narcotics conference in New Delhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the third national conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) heads from 36 states and union territories in New Delhi. The two-day event, organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), focuses on the targets outlined in the Vision Document on Narcotics Control 2026-2029.

The conference operates under the theme ‘United Resolve, Shared Responsibility’ and is structured around four strategic pillars: enforcement, intelligence and operations; control of precursors and synthetic drugs; demand and harm reduction; and capacity building and coordination. A significant shift in focus involves addressing synthetic drugs and the diversion of precursor chemicals within the legitimate pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Technical sessions are scheduled to cover topics including dismantling trafficking networks, rehabilitation, illicit cultivation, and investigations involving the darknet and cryptocurrencies. Additionally, Shah is set to release anti-drug awareness commercials and lay foundation stones for new NCB zonal complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun.
