Amit Shah outlines rehabilitation efforts for Naxal-affected victims in Chhattisgarh

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the rehabilitation of victims of Left-Wing Extremism in Chhattisgarh through the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Speaking via video conference, Shah emphasized that while the end of Naxalism is a goal, the government must also address the five decades of suffering endured by tribal communities.

The initiative focuses on providing assistive devices, such as artificial limbs, wheelchairs, and hearing aids, to individuals disabled by Naxal violence. A recent disability assistance programme in Jagdalpur reportedly benefited over 3,600 people, including 1,570 in the Bastar region.

Shah also highlighted broader rehabilitation efforts, noting that approximately 8,526 Naxalites have surrendered. These efforts include providing bank accounts, reward money, jobs for 455 individuals, and land allotments for 129 people. Additionally, the government plans to convert former security camps into community service centres dedicated to health, education, and employment to foster development in Bastar.
