Amit Shah to visit Manipur in October for development projects

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Manipur in the first week of October. During this visit, Shah is expected to lay the foundation stone for the Senapati Medical College and oversee various developmental projects in the state. The announcement followed a meeting in New Delhi between Shah and Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, where the Home Minister assured the Chief Minister that the central government would fulfill the aspirations of the people of Manipur.

The visit occurs amid significant political tension regarding demands from Meitei and Naga communities to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the upcoming Census.

Separately, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh chaired a high-level security meeting in Imphal following the killing of four civilians in Kangpokpi district. The state government has ordered stringent action against any individual found in possession of illegal weapons, regardless of their community. Additionally, the government warned that militant cadres under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreements who carry weapons outside designated camps will face serious consequences.
