Amit Shah presents President’s Colours to Puducherry Police

Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the President’s Colours to the Puducherry Police during a ceremonial function at the Police Training Ground in Gorimedu. The award recognizes the force's bravery, dedication, and service in maintaining law and order and ensuring internal security across the Union Territory.

During the event, which was attended by Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Shah highlighted the importance of the honor, stating that receiving the President’s Colours is “one of the most prestigious moments for any police force.” He also noted the force's role during the COVID-19 crisis and its responsibility in safeguarding the region's security.

Shah addressed recent criminal justice reforms, mentioning that the government has replaced British-era penal codes with three new laws built on the pillars of “Technology, Timeline and Trust.” He also noted central government development initiatives in Puducherry, including the four-laning of National Highway 332-A and the construction of an extended runway.
