Amit Shah visits Bhopal for dairy and security initiatives

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a multi-faceted visit to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, focusing on the dairy economy, farmer welfare, and national security. A central event was the state-level ‘Gopalak Sammelan’ (cattle rearers' conference) at BHEL दशहरा मैदान, attended by over 35,000 dairy cooperative members. During the event, Shah distributed bonuses to milk producers from Bhopal and Indore and provided financial aid to gaushalas.

Infrastructure developments were a key highlight, including the virtual foundation stone laying for a ₹255 crore modern dairy plant in Ujjain and the inauguration of a fermented milk product plant in Bhopal. Shah also laid the foundation for the Bhopal Western Bypass, a project valued at approximately ₹3,774 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated a state-level exhibition based on the new criminal laws.

Addressing social and security issues, Shah announced a target to make Madhya Pradesh drug-free by December 31, 2029. He also held a high-level meeting regarding internal security, discussing the implementation of new criminal laws, terrorism, and cybercrime with senior officials.

Despite the extensive agenda, some logistical challenges were noted. Reports indicated that several scheduled programs, including the foundation stone laying for the IISER ‘Atri’ campus, faced changes due to sudden meeting requirements. Furthermore, management issues were reported at the event site, where thousands of unused promotional posters were left discarded, leading to estimated financial losses.
