Amitabh Bachchan recalls spontaneous marriage to Jaya Bachchan

During an episode of the television show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan shared details regarding his spontaneous marriage to Jaya Bachchan. Responding to a question from contestant Aheli Roy about how he won over Jaya’s family, Bachchan revealed that the decision to marry was made without prior discussion with their families.

Bachchan stated that he simply suggested to Jaya one day that they should get married, to which she agreed. Following their mutual decision, Jaya informed her parents, who subsequently gave their approval. Bachchan noted that the wedding took place the very next day, contrasting their experience with the extensive planning and elaborate preparations typical of modern weddings.

The couple married on June 3, 1973, following the success of the film ‘Zanjeer’.
