AMK claims PAS faces potential seat negotiation pressure from UMNO in Melaka

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has claimed that PAS will likely be ‘bullied’ by UMNO during seat negotiations for the upcoming Melaka state election. AMK Executive Committee member Dzul Hilmi Zainol suggested that the political dynamics observed in Johor and Negeri Sembilan should serve as a lesson for PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Dzul Hilmi argued that UMNO continues to act as the ‘Abang Long’ (big brother) in negotiations, despite PAS winning more parliamentary seats than UMNO in the 15th General Election (PRU15). He referenced previous instances in Johor where PAS reportedly conceded seats to UMNO and its Barisan Nasional components, a situation the PAS President previously likened to being a ‘goalkeeper’ helping UMNO score goals.

The statement questioned whether seat negotiations in Melaka will be based on actual winning potential or if they will simply grant an advantage to UMNO. Dzul Hilmi also noted that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not entertain UMNO's claims to various seats, emphasizing that party mandates and records should dictate political standing.
