Amílcar Franco launches Peanuts Entertainment in London

Dominican actor and filmmaker Amílcar Franco has launched Peanuts Entertainment, a new audiovisual production company based in London. The company aims to develop culturally rooted Latin American and Caribbean stories for international audiences, acting as a creative bridge between the region and the global film industry.

The company’s flagship project is ‘Alive in Their Garden’ (Vivas en su jardín), a Spanish-language period drama inspired by the legacy of the Mirabal sisters. The sisters were prominent figures in the Dominican Republic who resisted the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo before their assassination in 1960. The project was developed in collaboration with the Mirabal Sisters House Museum and family members Minou Tavárez Mirabal and Jaqueline Guzmán Mirabal.

Shot on 16mm film, the production reflects a commitment to a celluloid-first model. The project coincides with the centenary year of Minerva Mirabal’s birth and features an international cast, with casting overseen by Emmy-winning casting director Olissa Rogers.
