Marina del Pilar faces allegations of campaign financing by Amílcar Olán

Leaked audio recordings released by journalist Carlos Loret de Mola via Latinus suggest that businessman Amílcar Olán allegedly provided financial support to Marina del Pilar Ávila's 2021 campaign for the governorship of Baja California.

In the recordings, Olán is heard describing the current governor and claiming, “I also gave her money for her campaign.” Olán is identified by investigative reports as an operator for ‘El Clan,’ a business network allegedly linked to the sons of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Investigations have previously connected Olán to significant federal contracts involving Pemex, the Dos Bocas refinery, the Maya Train, and the Interoceanic Train. Additionally, records indicate Olán received at least 58 million pesos for property leases in Tabasco between 2018 and 2026. These new allegations add to existing political scrutiny regarding the governor, including previous reports concerning her U.S. visa status and alleged communications with federal authorities.
