Amman Municipality and Ministry of Environment sign green space agreement

The Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Environment have signed a cooperation agreement to expand green spaces within Amman. The initiative aims to improve air quality, enhance the urban landscape, and mitigate the effects of climate change by planting 200 vacant land plots across the capital.

Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman and the head of the Greater Amman Municipality committee, Ahmed Al-Malakawi, signed the agreement. The Ministry of Environment, through its Environmental Protection Fund, will support the project. The implementation will begin with an initial phase covering four locations distributed across the northern, eastern, western, and southern regions of the city, based on technical and environmental readiness.

The agreement includes coordinating the selection of trees and shrubs suitable for local climatic conditions while ensuring water-use efficiency. It also focuses on technical expertise exchange and environmental awareness to highlight the positive impact of increased greenery on urban life.
