Amman transport projects receive award and undergo expansion studies
The Greater Amman Municipality has received the Elite Award at the 14th Dubai Sustainable Transport Award for its Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The project has successfully transported approximately 78 million passengers, contributing to improved public transport efficiency and social inclusivity in the capital.
In parallel, the Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing are studying major infrastructure projects to address traffic congestion. These include a proposed outer ring road starting from the Al-Kamaliyah area to connect northern and western entrances to the rest of the city, and feasibility studies for an Amman Metro system. While the ring road aims to divert heavy traffic from residential areas, the metro project faces discussions regarding its high implementation costs and the city's challenging hilly terrain.
