Ammerlaan TGI implements biological pest control in retail plants

Ammerlaan The Green Innovator has launched a sustainability initiative in collaboration with Intratuin to involve consumers in biological pest control. As part of the ‘SAMEN GR*EN BEZIG’ project, sachets containing beneficial biological organisms are left on larger houseplants when they are moved to retail stores. This ensures natural predators continue to protect the plants on the shop floor while educating customers on sustainable cultivation practices through flyers, QR codes, and staff training.

In separate market developments, produce prices in the Netherlands showed varied trends in week 39. The average price of vine tomatoes and broccoli decreased, while strawberry prices rose. Blueberries saw a significant price drop of nearly 10 percent, reaching a five-week low. Meanwhile, cucumber prices remained stable at an average of €0.72 per unit, with various supermarkets like Albert Heijn and Jumbo maintaining similar price points.
