Amnesty International organizes climate justice events in Belgium

Amnesty International is organizing several events in Belgium focused on climate justice and the protection of environmental defenders.

On October 11, the organization will participate in the Climate March in Brussels, gathering at the Luminus Tower. The primary demand of the march is a phase-out of fossil fuels, which Amnesty identifies as a major cause of global warming and a threat to fundamental human rights, including the rights to health and a healthy environment. The group also intends to highlight the plight of climate defenders facing repression globally.

Additionally, a conference titled ‘Climate Justice’ is scheduled for October 8 in Rixensart. The event features climate activist Adélaïde Charlier and Carine Thibaut, the Director General of Amnesty International Belgium (French-speaking section). The discussion aims to address the intersection of climate action and human rights.
