In recent interviews, members Johan Hegg and Ted Lundström described a smooth recording process working with producer Jacob Hansen in Denmark. The band utilized a meticulous approach where each song was fully completed before moving to the next to ensure precision and detail.

Lyrically, the album is a themed collection inspired by Norse mythology and Viking history, specifically focusing on the god Oden. While not a concept album, the tracks explore historical motifs of conflict and sacrifice related to Norse folklore.
