Amon-Ra St. Brown fined $60,000 for touchdown celebrations

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has been fined approximately $60,000 by the NFL following a game against the Buffalo Bills. The penalties stem from four separate instances where St. Brown performed a touchdown celebration simulating the act of smoking a cigarette.

Under NFL regulations, each repetition of the gesture is treated as an individual infraction. St. Brown, who indicated each fine was just over $14,000, has announced his intention to appeal the decision.

St. Brown is not the only player facing disciplinary action this week for celebrations. Other players cited include San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk for a drinking-related gesture, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, and Indianapolis Colts guard Matt Goncalves. Chase suggested that superstars should work with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to contest what players perceive as excessive fines for unique celebrations.
