South Korean corporations report diverse Q3 earnings results

Major South Korean companies reported varied third-quarter financial results, reflecting different sectoral trends.

Amorepacific Group saw a 24.7% increase in operating profit, reaching 130.1 billion won, driven by strong performance in derma and hair care brands like Aestura and Illiyoon in international markets.

Kia reported a 24.3% increase in operating profit year-on-year to 1.81 trillion won, aided by high demand for hybrid and electric vehicles in the US and Europe. However, profitability was pressured by rising raw material costs and Middle East conflicts, leading to a lower operating margin than initially targeted.

APR experienced a significant 100.3% surge in revenue, totaling 773.1 billion won, largely due to the rapid expansion of its cosmetics division in North America and Europe. Despite this growth, its operating margin declined due to currency fluctuations.

In the medical technology sector, JVM reported a 30.4% increase in operating profit, supported by high-margin automated dispensing equipment sales in North America.

Hanhwa Aerospace reported a 46% decrease in operating profit compared to the previous year, with revenue falling 6% to 6.09 trillion won, as major defense contract deliveries were concentrated in the fourth quarter.
