Amotekun Corps rescues farmers in Ondo amid rising kidnapping

In Ondo State, the Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police, rescued two farmers who had been abducted in the Okeigbo area. During the rescue operation, one of the victims, a woman, died in captivity. The kidnappers had reportedly demanded a N100 million ransom for their release.

Following the operation, security agencies paraded 15 suspects linked to various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, and housebreaking. Among those arrested were individuals accused of stealing cattle and selling them for N100,000 per head, as well as suspects involved in the illegal possession of firearms and the vandalism of construction sites.

In a separate incident in Ogun State, the son-in-law of veteran journalist Ayo Akinyemi, Oreoluwa Osunuga, was kidnapped by gunmen in Ikenne. The kidnappers reportedly demanded N500 million for his release. Ogun State police have launched an investigation and are working to track the assailants.
