Argentina expands regional electrical infrastructure through new transformer stations

Various regional infrastructure projects are underway across Argentina to modernize and expand electrical networks.

In Entre Ríos, Enersa is investing over 18 billion pesos to construct the Viale Transformer Station. This project includes a 30-kilometer, 132 kV high-voltage line connecting Crespo to Viale. As the province’s first digital transformer station, it features an 80 MVA design capacity intended to improve monitoring, reliability, and support industrial and urban growth.

In the Santa María department, work is progressing on the Ampajango Transformer Station. The addition of a 30 MVA transformer will triple the current 10 MVA capacity. The project also implements a new ‘pi’ (entry-exit) engineering scheme to improve service continuity by allowing isolated repairs without total system shutdowns.

In Córdoba, the provincial government and the Covisar cooperative have signed agreements to strengthen the grid in Villa Santa Rosa, Diego de Rojas, and Las Gramillas. These works include new medium-voltage lines and transformers to expand service to residential and urban areas.

Additionally, in Río Negro, a tender process is active for urban electrification in Guardia Mitre, a project expected to benefit 46 families.
