Amparo, Brazil Extends Registration for 14th Peace Walk
Registrations for the 14th Caminhada pela Paz (Peace Walk) in Amparo, São Paulo, have been extended to 16 August 2026, the day the free event will take place at Praça Pádua Salles. Organised by the Movimento Você e a Paz and sponsored by the Ypê company, the walk follows a 2025 edition that attracted about 5,000 participants and aims to broaden attendance this year.
The programme includes leisure, health, cultural and sustainability activities. Free health stations will offer cardiology and nutrition consultations, electrocardiogram and bio‑impedance tests, as well as social‑care, family‑medicine and psychological support. Musical performances by the Vozes da Ypê choir and the SEPI children’s choir, an art exhibition by local youth, tree‑seedling distribution and a photo‑memory space are also planned. organisers link the event to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 on peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
Ana Maria Beira, the walk’s founder in Amparo and a Ypê co‑founder, said the initiative keeps the movement’s core message alive: “Peace starts within each person, strengthens community bonds and multiplies when we all assume responsibility for respectful, fraternal relations.” The movement, created in 1998 by the late medium Divaldo Pereira Franco, now operates in more than 75 cities across 60 Brazilian municipalities and 14 countries.
