Black Queens defeat Mauritius 3-0 in Olympic qualifier

Ghana’s women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have secured a dominant 3-0 away victory against Mauritius in their second-round qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Goals from Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi, and Benedicte Simon secured the win, providing a strong start to the team's campaign under coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren.

The victory marks a critical step in Ghana's pursuit of its first-ever Olympic appearance in women's football, a milestone the nation has missed in all eight editions since the sport's Olympic debut in 1996. The second leg of the qualifier is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 13.

In domestic football, the Ghana Premier League and the Women’s Premier League are both entering active stages of their seasons. The Women’s Premier League is set to kick off between October 23 and 26, 2026, featuring 20 clubs divided into Northern and Southern Zones, with Ampem Darkoa entering the season as the defending champions.
