Amran: Man found dead after accusing Houthi leaders of drug smuggling
A young man, identified as Sadiq Mohammed Sadiq Jalal from Ibb Governorate, was found dead in the Shabaq Valley of the Harf Sufyan District in Yemen's Amran Governorate. His body was discovered hanging under mysterious circumstances.
The death occurred only one day after Jalal publicly accused Houthi militia leaders in the district of facilitating drug smuggling networks. Specifically, he alleged that the Houthi supervisor for the district and the appointed security director were involved in protecting and managing the transit of narcotics toward Saudi Arabia in exchange for large sums of money.
Local sources have raised concerns regarding whether the death was a suicide or a targeted killing, noting the suspicious timing of the event. There has been no official comment or transparent investigation launched by Houthi authorities regarding the allegations or the circumstances of the death.
