Amravati Tribal School Food Poisoning Hospitalises Over 100 Children

More than 100 tribal students from three government residential schools in Maharashtra's Amravati district were hospitalized after severe vomiting and nausea following meals served at the schools. The first wave affected 69 pupils in Dharni tehsil on July 25, and a second wave of roughly 70 students fell ill on July 26 in the Bijudhavdi and Savlikheda schools. As of the latest update, 32 children remain under medical observation but are reported to be stable.

Authorities have lodged a police complaint against the operator of the central kitchen based in Temli village that supplies food to the schools. Health officials have seized food and water samples for laboratory testing. Siddarth Shukla, the Tribal Development Project Officer for Dharni, and Amravati Member of Parliament Balwant Wankhede visited the affected schools and the hospital, urging a review of hygiene standards and the catering operation.
