América de Cali faces financial difficulties amid sporting success

América de Cali is experiencing significant financial instability despite a strong performance in the Liga BetPlay. Sporting manager Iván Vélez confirmed that the club has faced payment delays, a situation previously highlighted by issues involving Duván Vergara and Racing Club.

The club's economic challenges were exacerbated by physical infrastructure damage caused by an earthquake on August 10. While the team currently holds second place in the championship and has reached the semifinals of the Copa Colombia, management must resolve these debts before the upcoming quadrangular phase.

In related league news, Millonarios manager Alberto Gamero expects the return of key players Jorge Arias and Carlos Sarabia for the upcoming match against América de Cali. Arias is recovering from a toe fracture, while Sarabia has returned to group training following an adductor injury.
