Mexico implements various educational and social support measures for 2026 school year

Various Mexican states are implementing measures to support the 2026 school year. In Tamaulipas, Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya inaugurated the new Preparatoria Tampico of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT). Additionally, the Tamaulipas Secretary of Education is launching ‘El ABC de las Emociones,’ a program adding socio-emotional workshops to the high school curriculum to address mental health, anxiety, and violence.

In Mexico City, the government is investing 704 million pesos to provide school supplies and uniforms to approximately 650,000 basic education students to alleviate family economic pressure. Meanwhile, in Nuevo Laredo, the municipality is offering free school medical certificates throughout August, and the Institute for Adult Education (ITEA) is providing free services for those seeking primary and secondary certificates.

Other regional updates include the expansion of enrollment and new technology specialties at CBTis 119 in Ciudad Victoria, efforts by CREDE to fill teaching vacancies in Matamoros, and calls from the Matamoros Civil Registry for families to complete documentation early to avoid crowds.
