Amritsar Airport operations disrupted by suspicious drone activity

Flight operations at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar were disrupted late Sunday night following reports of suspicious drone activity near the Rajasansi area. Security personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) observed two to three unidentified objects flying at high altitudes, prompting an immediate security alert and the temporary suspension of runway operations.

The incident led to the diversion of three incoming flights. Air India flight AI-855, traveling from Delhi, was ordered to return to Delhi. IndiGo flight 6E-5028 from Mumbai was diverted to Chandigarh, and Malaysia Airlines flight MH-118 from Kuala Lumpur was diverted to Delhi.

Authorities are currently investigating the nature and movement of the objects. This follows a similar incident involving drone activity near the airport in August. Security protocols have been heightened in the sensitive border region following the sighting.
