Three sisters in Amroha marry same man, viral video sparks controversy

In Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, three sisters—Saroj, Savitri and Santosh—appeared to marry the same man, identified as Vikas (also called Vikkū), in a ceremony at the Chamunda temple. The wedding, captured on a short video that was posted on social media, quickly went viral, drawing millions of views and intense reactions.

The video shows the sisters taking the seven sacred rounds together, with Vikas placing sindoor on each bride. Police have opened an investigation after the clip sparked outrage from Hindu organisations, which called the marriage a violation of tradition and morality. A local BJP municipal chairman was also seen in the footage, prompting further criticism. The sisters, who have sizable followings on Instagram and Facebook, have said the decision was voluntary and have avoided media appearances. One sister is a B.Tech second‑year student, the others have completed 12th grade, and the groom is preparing for an LLB.

Both supporters and detractors are active online, with some praising the sisters' solidarity and others likening the episode to historic polygamous stories. Authorities have not yet confirmed the legal validity of the ceremony.
