Amstelveen begins major Rembrandtweg redevelopment
The Rembrandtweg in Amstelveen will undergo a major redevelopment starting Tuesday, August 18. The project involves a large-scale redesign of the shopping street, including tree replacement, area leveling, and new paving.
The road will be closed to both motorized vehicles and cyclists, though pedestrians will maintain access to shops and restaurants. A temporary route will be established for business deliveries. While the current schedule extends until February 1, 2027, the Winkeliersvereniging Rembrandtweg (WSA) noted that much of the work might be completed by late November. The closure will be temporarily lifted in December for the holiday season.
Additionally, preparations are underway to temporarily relocate the local market to the Rembrandtweg due to ongoing renovations at the Stadsplein.
