World Pride Amsterdam 2026 draws crowds with awards, parade and local celebrations

The United Nations Development Programme and ILGA World presented the International Pride Awards during World Pride Amsterdam, with the ceremony broadcast live by OUTtv on 6 August. Winners received a US$10,000 grant to support their LGBTQ+ advocacy work.

Travel Legends acted as the main sponsor of the Oeteldonk‑boat that sailed in the Canal Parade, combining the spirit of Dutch carnival with Pride messages of inclusion.

On 29 July, the neighbourhood of Oost hosted Pride Oost on Javaplein, a street festival featuring live music, dance, spoken‑word and information stands, highlighting the cultural diversity of Amsterdam East.

Amsterdam businesses added special Pride programmes: the Amstel Hotel offered a drag show on 30 July with a limited‑ticket dinner experience, and the city’s venues served Pride‑themed cocktails and menus. Volkshotel promoted dedicated accommodation packages for visitors attending World Pride.

World Pride 2026 runs from 25 July to 8 August, marking the 25th anniversary of the world’s first same‑sex marriage, and positions Amsterdam as the international focal point for LGBTQ+ visibility and rights this summer.
