Poland: Police report series of traffic violations and criminal incidents
Polish law enforcement has reported several significant incidents involving traffic violations and criminal activity. In Brzeg, a 45-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed chase involving a stolen ambulance. During the pursuit, the suspect struck a 44-year-old policewoman and forced officers to discharge their service weapons to stop the vehicle. The suspect, who has a history of fraud, was taken into custody.
In Siewierzu, an off-duty police officer observed a man attempting to steal over 400 PLN worth of goods by loading a full shopping cart into his vehicle. The suspect was identified as a person wanted by the prosecution in Bielsko-Biała.
Other notable incidents include a 31-year-old man in Grajewo who was caught driving despite a court-ordered ban, and a 65-year-old man in Brzozowa detained for riding a moped while under a driving prohibition. Additionally, a truck driver in Szymocice was intercepted by an off-duty officer after bypassing closed railway barriers and ignoring red lights.
Authorities have also highlighted broader safety concerns, including a compilation of dangerous driving behaviors and a campaign by railway officials to remind citizens of safety protocols at level crossings ahead of All Saints' Day.
