Amsterdam slated for WorldPride 2026; Milan Pride harassment case leads to conviction
Amsterdam will host WorldPride 2026 from 25 July to 8 August, featuring more than 500 events across the city, a Pride March, street parties and a Canal Parade with about 80 decorated boats. The programme includes the WorldPride Human Rights Conference on 5 August, marking the 25th anniversary of the city’s 2001 legalization of same‑sex marriage and reinforcing its role as a global LGBTQ+ hub.
In Italy, a man was sentenced to one year and six months suspended imprisonment for sexually harassing journalists covering the Milano Pride parade in 2024. The court ordered him to attend a centre for abusive men and to pay €2,000 in compensation to each victim. The conviction follows an investigation after the reporters reported unwanted physical contact while interviewing Democratic Party leader Elly Schlein.
