Amsterdam Zuid station to open new Brittenpassage on November 1

The Brittenpassage, a new station passage at Amsterdam Zuid, is scheduled to open on November 1. Developed through a collaboration between Zuidasdok and NS, the passage will replace the current station entrance, offering travelers increased space, improved lighting, and enhanced facilities.

As the sixth busiest station in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Zuid currently handles approximately 75,000 daily train passengers on workdays. The new passage will feature various retail outlets, including Starbucks, Kiosk, and Etos, along with an indoor bicycle parking facility providing 2,000 spaces.

The opening coincides with the beginning of a three-year renovation of the existing Minervapassage. Long-term development plans for the area include expanding the station to accommodate a projected 250,000 daily public transport users by 2030, which involves redesigning traffic routes to prioritize walking, cycling, and public transit over car traffic.
