Ajax vs. FC Sion match to be broadcast on pay-per-view KIJK

Broadcasting rights for the upcoming Conference League play-off match between FC Sion and Ajax have been acquired by Talpa. The match will be aired on Talpa’s pay-per-view platform, KIJK, rather than the usual broadcaster, Ziggo Sport.

Because the match is a qualifying round, it falls outside of Ziggo’s exclusive UEFA competition package, allowing the home club, FC Sion, to sell the rights to the highest bidder. Talpa has secured global rights, excluding Switzerland, and will charge €4.99 per viewer. This decision has caused frustration among Ajax supporters and has been noted by Ajax’s main sponsor, Ziggo.
